About TimezonesMap

A small, focused site for anyone who needs to know what time it is somewhere else.

TimezonesMap.net shows the world’s time zones on a live map, converts times between cities and helps you find a meeting time that works for everyone. It is free, needs no account and works on phones, tablets and computers.

How the times are calculated

Every time on this site is calculated in your browser from the IANA time zone database (also called tzdata or the Olson database), the data that phones and computers use. We never hard-code offsets like “New York = UTC−5”, so daylight saving time is applied on the correct date everywhere.

Browsers update their copy of the database with their own releases. If yours is older than the 2026e release (September 29, 2026), the site applies the newer changes itself: Paraguay’s permanent UTC−3 (2025a), British Columbia’s permanent UTC−7 (2026b), Alberta’s permanent UTC−6 and Morocco’s permanent UTC+0 (2026c), the Northwest Territories’ permanent UTC−6 (2026d) and Manitoba’s permanent UTC−5 (2026e) (IANA tz database NEWS). These corrections switch themselves off once your browser knows the new rules.

The day and night shading is calculated from the sun’s position (declination and the equation of time) for the current minute, accurate to a fraction of a degree, which is plenty for a world map.

Map data and licences

  • Time zone boundaries: timezone-boundary-builder release 2026d by Evan Siroky, built from OpenStreetMap. © OpenStreetMap contributors, available under the Open Database License (ODbL) (timezone-boundary-builder). We simplified the boundaries for fast loading; the simplified shapes in our maps are also available under the ODbL, so you are free to reuse them on the same terms.
  • Country and state borders, city names and positions: Natural Earth, public domain (Natural Earth).
  • Font: Outfit, SIL Open Font License, served from this site.

What we believe

  • Correct first. Facts about daylight saving time and US time zone boundaries come from official sources (NIST, the eCFR, EUR-Lex, GOV.UK) that are linked on each page.
  • Fast and light. The maps are plain SVG drawn on the page; the code that makes them live is small and loads after the page.
  • Private by design. No account and no cookies. Your saved cities stay on your device. See privacy.
